HARMONISATION OF OHS LEGISLATION COULD HERE WITHIN 5 YEARS

The Australian Government has appointed an advisory panel, consisting of three high profile OHS figures, to review current legislation in all Australian jurisdictions with the purpose of achieving harmonisation as soon as practicable, and within the next five years. The aim is to develop consistent, high quality legislation and practices across the jurisdictions, and with more organisations becoming involved in cross-border business activities, COAG see the need for this important review.

The priority areas should be presented to the Workplace Relations Minister by October 31 2008. For full report, click on link below under NATIONAL OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY REVIEW

HOW CAN OHS LEGISLATION BY EMAIL PTY LTD ASSIST YOUR BUSINESS?

As you all know, everyone has a responsibility for occupational health and safety – employers, managers, supervisors and employees. But (and it is a big BUT), this only works if you are aware of all changes to the relevant legislation.

Our company offers an email service to Queensland workplaces, alerting our clients to changes to their nominated legislation. It is an easy to understand, simple to use system at a very low cost to any business. It was designed primarily for busy Workplace Health and Safety Officers (WHSOs) but it is an asset for anyone responsible for occupational health and safety.

Our clients include Government departments, Local Government, Aged Care facilities, Construction companies, Manufacturing industries, Health services, Universities, Schools and Service industries.

You may already have a system in place – our system enhances existing systems and acts as a check so that you don’t miss any changes.

Remember - you cannot comply with the law if you are not aware of the changes to the legislation.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Whenever there is a change to the legislation, subscribers receive an email to their nominated email address notifying them of the change and providing a link and relevant information about the change.

BENEFITS TO YOUR BUSINESS
Compliance with the law - you keep up-to-date with changes
Fast - sent by email when changes are introduced
Efficient- by email to your desk
Easy to use - just click on the link and check if this change applies to your workplace
Inexpensive - 1st service costs $5 per week; each extra service $2.50

WHICH LEGISLATION
Following the success of the introduction of the service for Workplace Health and Safety legislation, clients have requested services for other Queensland legislation. See below for the complete list:

  • Workplace Health and Safety (including codes of practice)
  • Electrical Safety (including codes of practice)
  • Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation
  • Fire Safety
  • Coal Mining Safety and Health
  • Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health
  • Child Employment
  • Industrial Relations (including codes of practice).

WHAT DOES IT COST?
The first service will cost $260 per year.

Subsequent services only cost half of this amount - $130 per additional service (e.g. if you subscribe to Workplace Health and Safety and Electrical Safety, it will cost $390 per year.
There are also discounts if you pay for 2 years.

If you wish the services to go to additional email addresses (e.g. all members of the WHS Committee), the cost is a minimal $44 per year per email address.
